First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested two combinations of treatments for 'neurostorm' — a dangerous overreaction of the body's stress system after a traumatic brain injury. 205 critically ill adults received a nerve block (stellate ganglion block) plus either dexmedetomidine or ketamine. The goal was to see which combo calms symptoms like high blood pressure and fever faster, and helps patients leave the ICU sooner.
