Treadmill training may boost walking skills in kids with heart defects
NCT ID NCT07605832
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether moderate treadmill walking can improve how children aged 4 to 6 with surgically corrected acyanotic congenital heart disease walk, balance, and move. Eighty children will take part, with some doing treadmill sessions four times a week for 10 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in stride length, speed, and balance to see if the exercise helps close the gap with healthy children.

- Active substance
- treadmill walking sessions
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple exercise program to help children with corrected heart disease walk and balance better.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 80 children, and it is not yet recruiting. The results may not apply to all children with heart conditions.
