Can a 10-Hour eating window and exercise shield new moms from diabetes?
NCT ID NCT07776886
First seen Aug 20, 2026 · Last updated Aug 21, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether combining time-restricted eating (eating only within a 10-hour window each day) with moderate-to-high intensity exercise can improve heart and metabolic health in women who recently had gestational diabetes. Participants are randomly assigned to either an 8-week supervised program or a control group, with follow-up for up to a year. The study measures fitness, body composition, and other markers of cardiovascular and metabolic health to see if this lifestyle approach could reduce future diabetes risk.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Time-restricted eating combined with moderate-to-high intensity endurance exercise
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this approach could help women who had gestational diabetes lower their risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease later in life.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial, so results may not apply to all women. The intervention requires significant commitment to diet and exercise, and long-term adherence may be challenging.
