Can writing heal trauma and stop HIV? new therapy aims to help women at high risk

NCT ID NCT05192434

Summary

This study tests a program called TIARAS, which combines writing exercises with a reward system, to see if it helps women who inject drugs stay on their HIV prevention pills or shots (PrEP). Over 200 women will be randomly assigned to write about past trauma or neutral topics while earning small rewards for taking their medication and staying off drugs. Researchers will follow participants for a year to see if the program lowers their overall risk of getting HIV.
