Shoulder surgery pain relief: tranexamic acid may cut morphine use

NCT ID NCT05302986

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving tranexamic acid during shoulder surgery could reduce pain and the need for morphine afterward. The idea is that the drug might shrink post-surgery bleeding and swelling, which can cause pain. 220 adults having shoulder arthroscopy took part, and researchers compared those who got the drug to those who got a placebo.
