Scientists hunt for hidden clues in blood to spot dangerous transfusion reaction
NCT ID NCT06444750
Summary
This study aims to find specific markers in the blood that can help doctors diagnose Transfusion-Related Acute Lung Injury (TRALI), a serious but rare complication after a blood transfusion. Researchers will compare blood samples from 210 ICU patients—some with TRALI, some with other lung problems, and some healthy volunteers—to identify unique protein patterns. The goal is to understand the biology of TRALI better and eventually create a test to detect it earlier and improve transfusion safety.
