Brain zaps for OCD: new study tests targeted magnetic therapy

NCT ID NCT07587112

First seen May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive magnetic brain stimulation technique (deep TMS) can reduce obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms. 96 adults with OCD will be randomly assigned to receive real or sham (fake) stimulation over 6 weeks. Researchers will also use brain scans (PET/MRI) to see how the treatment changes brain activity.
