Brain zaps for bipolar: tiny study tests TMS for emotional control
NCT ID NCT03622749
First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This small pilot study tested whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) could help people with bipolar disorder improve their emotion regulation. Nineteen participants, including both patients and healthy controls, completed behavioral tasks measuring reaction times to emotional images and words. The study aimed to see if TMS could make it easier for patients to manage emotional responses, but results are preliminary and need larger trials to confirm.
