Cheaper jaw joints put to the test: can virtual planning make them as good as custom?
NCT ID NCT07373184
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a standard, less expensive jaw joint replacement can be planned using virtual 3D models, just like the more expensive custom-made ones. Researchers will use X-rays from 30 patients who have already had surgery to see if the standard prosthesis can achieve similar positioning and movement. The goal is to offer a more affordable option without sacrificing quality.
