Weight-loss drug tirzepatide takes on alcohol addiction in new trial

Summary
This study tests whether a weekly injection of tirzepatide, a drug used for diabetes and weight loss, can reduce heavy drinking in adults who have alcohol use disorder and are overweight or obese. About 42 participants will receive either tirzepatide or a placebo for 8 weeks. Researchers will track how many heavy drinking days occur and other drinking patterns.
