New combo therapy targets liver tumors in early trial

NCT ID NCT02174549

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a drug called tirapazamine, which becomes active in low-oxygen areas, combined with a procedure that blocks blood flow to liver tumors (embolization). The goal is to find the safest and most effective dose for people with liver cancer or liver-dominant metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. Up to 25 participants with good liver function and limited tumor burden will receive the drug directly into the liver artery before embolization, and their response will be tracked with MRI scans.
