New survey aims to track thyroid surgery recovery

Summary
This study aims to create a reliable questionnaire to measure swallowing difficulties and throat discomfort in people with thyroid conditions or who have had thyroid surgery. Researchers will interview patients to develop the questions, then give the survey to 420 participants before their surgery and again at three and six months after. The study will also assess the psychological impact of the condition and surgery, and examine the quality of the surgical scar.
