Smart drainage system could speed up lung leak repairs

NCT ID NCT07105436

First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether a digital drainage system called Thopaz+ can more accurately measure persistent air leaks after lung surgery. About 20 adults with air leaks lasting 5 days or more will have the device connected to their chest tube during a bronchoscopy. The goal is to see if the precise measurements help doctors decide where to place valves to stop the leak, potentially leading to faster recovery.
