Tetris game tested as new PTSD treatment to block bad memories

NCT ID NCT07495917

First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests a new way to reduce intrusive memories in people with PTSD. Instead of asking people to recall their trauma, researchers use a brief, unconscious reminder followed by playing the video game Tetris. The goal is to see if this approach can lower the number of upsetting memories without the distress of traditional therapy. The study will involve 106 adults who have at least five intrusive memories per week.
