New hope for thyroid eye disease: drug may beat steroids after emergency surgery

Summary

This study tests a new drug called teprotumumab against standard steroid treatment in 60 adults with severe thyroid eye disease causing vision loss. All participants will first have emergency eye surgery, then receive either teprotumumab or steroids for 24 weeks. The goal is to see which treatment better improves eyesight and reduces complications.
