NCT ID NCT07238413
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding scapular (shoulder blade) stabilization exercises to standard shockwave therapy can better reduce pain and improve strength and function in people with tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis). About 48 adults with long-lasting elbow pain will be split into two groups: one gets shockwave therapy plus standard exercises, the other adds the shoulder exercises. Researchers will measure pain, grip strength, and daily function over 8 weeks.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
extracorporeal shock wave therapy and scapular stabilization exercises
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more effective physical therapy program for tennis elbow, reducing pain and improving daily function.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 48 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The added exercises may not provide significant extra benefit over shockwave therapy alone.
