First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests a new, non-invasive brain stimulation method called temporal interference stimulation to see if it can safely help people with severe consciousness disorders, like a coma or vegetative state, regain awareness. The trial will involve 20 adults aged 18-75 who have been in a minimally conscious or vegetative state for at least 28 days. Researchers will measure improvements in consciousness using a standard assessment scale and compare results to a sham (fake) treatment group.
