Pill that takes your temperature: could it replace ear thermometers?
NCT ID NCT04174053
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether a tiny capsule that you swallow can accurately measure body temperature in blood cancer patients with low white blood cells. Thirty hospitalized adults took the capsule while also having their ear temperature taken. The goal was to see if the capsule readings matched the ear thermometer, which could help doctors start anti-infection treatments faster.
