Heart-Saving hope for neuroendocrine cancer patients in new drug trial

NCT ID NCT04810091

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding telotristat ethyl to standard therapy can help prevent or control heart damage caused by carcinoid syndrome in people with advanced neuroendocrine tumors. About 79 adults whose cancer has spread and who are already on stable somatostatin analog therapy will receive either telotristat ethyl plus standard care or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if the drug lowers a heart stress marker (NT-proBNP) after 6 months.
