First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study compares a structured telerehabilitation program (exercises done at home with remote supervision) to standard in-person physical therapy for people recovering from total knee replacement. 120 participants aged 50-65 will be randomly assigned to either group and followed for 23 weeks. The goal is to see if remote therapy can match or improve upon conventional therapy for pain, range of motion, walking ability, and quality of life.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Mir Shakeel Teleintegrated Therapy plan (structured telerehabilitation exercise program)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that remote physical therapy is as effective as in-person sessions for knee replacement recovery, making rehab more accessible and convenient.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage trial (120 participants) comparing two rehab approaches, not testing a new drug or cure. Results may not apply to all patients, and tele-rehab requires reliable internet and tech access.
