Mild brain stimulation shows promise for Post-Stroke blues

NCT ID NCT06598670

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested whether a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can help reduce depression in people who had a stroke at least six months earlier. Researchers enrolled 60 adults with mild to moderate depression and measured changes in mood, thinking skills, and quality of life. The goal was to see if tDCS could be a safe, drug-free way to ease post-stroke depression.
