First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 37 times
Summary
This study tests whether two traditional Chinese medicines—Compound Danshen Dripping Pills and Qishen Yiqi Dripping Pills—can reduce chest pain and improve quality of life in elderly patients (75-90 years old) with coronary heart disease who still have symptoms despite standard treatment. 120 participants will receive either one of the herbal pills or a placebo, alongside their usual medications. The goal is to see if these herbs safely ease symptoms like angina and shortness of breath.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Compound Danshen Dripping Pills and Qishen Yiqi Dripping Pills
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a safe add-on option to reduce angina symptoms and improve daily life for elderly heart disease patients who still have symptoms despite standard treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (120 participants) focused on symptom relief, not a cure. The benefits may be modest, and results may not apply to all patients. Risks include potential herb-drug interactions.
