Heart valve surgery: could lighter anesthesia get you home faster?
NCT ID NCT04107038
Summary
This study compared two types of anesthesia for patients getting a minimally invasive heart valve replacement (TAVR). Researchers wanted to see if using lighter sedation (Monitored Anesthesia Care) instead of full general anesthesia leads to shorter hospital stays, fewer trips to the ICU, and similar safety. The study involved 170 adults with aortic valve stenosis who were eligible for either type of anesthesia.
