New heart valve showdown: simpler procedure could change aortic stenosis care
NCT ID NCT05036018
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests two newer self-expanding heart valves and a less invasive approach for replacing a narrowed aortic valve. About 836 people with severe aortic stenosis will be randomly assigned to receive one of the new valves or standard care, and also to a minimalist procedure or usual care. The goal is to see if these newer options reduce death, stroke, and other complications within 30 days.
