First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested a special antimicrobial wash (taurolidine) to see if it could prevent infections from metal implants like plates, screws, and joint replacements after trauma surgery. Twenty-eight adults who needed these implants took part. The study compared infection rates to those reported in medical literature. The goal was to see if the wash is safe and effective at reducing infections within three months of surgery.
