Pain relief showdown: ultrasound vs. Surgeon's touch in abdominal surgery

NCT ID NCT06876155

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026

Summary

This study looked at two methods for giving a TAP block, a pain-numbing injection for the belly wall, after laparoscopic abdominal surgery. One method uses ultrasound guidance by an anesthesiologist, the other uses surgical landmarks during the operation. The goal was to see if they provide similar pain relief and how long each takes. 64 adults having elective laparoscopic colorectal, gallbladder, or stomach surgery took part.
