Zapping the brain to help stroke patients speak again

NCT ID NCT07347327

First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called tACS combined with speech training to help stroke survivors with aphasia improve their ability to repeat words. 28 adults who had a stroke 1-6 months earlier received either real or fake stimulation for 20 minutes daily over 10 days. The goal was to see if stimulating both the auditory and motor brain areas could boost language function and brain activity.
