First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study aims to find out if a specific bacterium, Treponema parvum, is more common in people with gum disease (periodontitis) compared to those with healthy gums. Researchers will collect plaque samples from 112 participants and use a sensitive test to measure the amount of this bacterium. The results may help clarify whether T. parvum plays a role in causing or worsening gum disease.
