New study probes hidden lung damage in IPF patients

Summary
This study looks at whether people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) have problems in their small airways before starting any medication. Researchers will use a simple breathing test called nitrogen washout to check for these issues. The goal is to understand how common small airway disease is in IPF and how it changes after one year of treatment. About 100 adults with IPF will take part, along with a healthy comparison group.
