Sleep drug trial aims to curb cravings in dual addiction

NCT ID NCT05546515

Summary

This study tested whether a prescription sleep medication called Suvorexant could help people who are already receiving treatment for opioid addiction (like methadone) but are also using stimulants like cocaine. Twenty participants were randomly assigned to receive either Suvorexant or a placebo pill for 30 days. Researchers measured if the medication reduced drug use in urine tests, lowered cravings, and improved sleep and stress levels.
