Timing is everything: new study on anal fistula surgery outcomes

NCT ID NCT07482241

First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study explores whether the length of time a person has anal fistula symptoms before surgery impacts their healing and the chance of the fistula coming back. Researchers will follow 90 adults having surgery, grouping them by how long they had symptoms (3 months or less, 3-6 months, or more than 6 months). The goal is to help doctors and patients decide the best time for surgery to improve recovery and reduce recurrence.
