Arm block study peers into eye nerve for brain pressure clues

NCT ID NCT06428461

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at how different amounts of numbing medicine given near the collarbone affect pain relief and side effects during arm surgery. Researchers also used ultrasound to measure the nerve behind the eye, which can hint at pressure inside the brain. 64 adults having hand, wrist, or elbow surgery took part. The goal was to find the best medicine volume and see if it relates to brain pressure changes.
