Can a single dose of esketamine or a crisis plan stop suicide attempts?
NCT ID NCT07120477
First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study compares two promising approaches to prevent suicide: a single infusion of esketamine (a fast-acting medication) and a one-session Crisis Response Planning session, both added to standard care. Researchers will follow 468 adolescents and adults in Brazil who recently attempted suicide or have severe suicidal thoughts for one year to see which approach reduces future suicide-related events. The goal is to find practical, quick interventions that can be used in public emergency settings.
