Zapping vs. injecting: new study tests best way to stop amputee pain

NCT ID NCT07431424

Summary

This study compared two procedures to relieve pain from nerve endings that form after a leg amputation, known as a stump neuroma. Researchers tested whether using heat energy to disable the nerve (radiofrequency ablation) or injecting an anti-inflammatory steroid was more effective. They measured pain levels, mobility, and quality of life in 26 participants over three months to see which treatment worked better.
