Researchers test tobacco Industry's 'Flavorless' menthol replacement
NCT ID NCT06230159
Summary
This study aims to understand how synthetic cooling agents, which tobacco companies are adding to cigarettes as a flavorless alternative to banned menthol, affect smoking behavior and appeal. Researchers enrolled 34 young adult smokers to compare their reactions to regular, menthol, and synthetic cooling agent cigarettes during lab sessions. The goal is to gather information that could help regulators understand the potential risks of these new additives.
