New hope for cancer patients: drug may prevent wasting during treatment

Summary
This study tests whether adding megestrol acetate oral suspension to standard chemoimmunotherapy can prevent weight loss and improve appetite in 48 people with stage III stomach cancer who are experiencing cachexia (severe wasting). Participants will either receive the drug plus standard treatment or standard treatment alone before surgery. The goal is to see if the drug helps patients maintain weight and feel better during treatment.
