Summary

This study tested a smartphone app called Cogito Companion to see if it could help assess psychological distress in Navy sailors returning to the U.S. 279 sailors participated, with some using the app and others using standard self-help resources. The main goal was to measure how satisfied users were with the app, not to prove it treats or prevents mental health issues.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Cogito Companion smartphone app
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new tool for monitoring mental health in military personnel.
What could go wrong
This was a small, completed feasibility study focused on satisfaction, not on proving the app improves mental health outcomes.
