Could a simple salt solution help donated kidneys work right away?

Summary
This study tests whether adding sodium thiosulfate (STS) to the fluid that keeps donated kidneys cold during transport can help them work sooner after transplant. About 120 adults with kidney failure who receive a kidney from a deceased donor will take part. Half of the kidneys will get the STS additive; the other half will not. Researchers will track how many recipients need dialysis soon after transplant, which is a sign of delayed kidney function.
