Heart hole fix tested to stop second strokes in seniors
NCT ID NCT05907694
Summary
This study is for people over 60 who have had a stroke of unknown cause and have a small, common heart hole called a PFO. It aims to find out if closing this hole with a small implanted device, along with standard blood-thinning medication, is better at preventing another stroke than using medication alone. Researchers will compare the two approaches in over 700 participants to see which one leads to fewer repeat strokes.
