New touch therapy aims to ease PTSD in ICU survivors

NCT ID NCT07422077

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests a noninvasive technique called Energy Resonance by Skin Stimulation (ERCS) to reduce stress in patients recovering from an intensive care unit (ICU) stay. The technique uses gentle touch on specific skin points, based on traditional Chinese medicine principles. Researchers will measure stress levels before and after two sessions, one week apart, in 38 hospitalized adults. If effective, this drug-free approach could become a standard part of post-ICU care.
