Can blood flow restriction boost muscle gains safely?

NCT ID NCT07404683

First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 07, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how safe and effective an 8-week strength training program is when combined with blood flow restriction (BFR) — a technique that partially limits blood flow to the working muscles. Sixty healthy, untrained adults aged 18 to 65 will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: high-intensity exercise with BFR, low-intensity exercise with BFR, or high-intensity exercise without BFR. Researchers will measure muscle strength, size, and any side effects to see which approach works best.
