First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using alcohol hand sanitizers and face masks can help stop colds and flu from spreading among family members. About 450 households in New York City with at least one young child took part. Families were split into three groups: one got educational materials only, another added hand sanitizers, and the third also used face masks when someone had flu symptoms. Researchers tracked how often people got sick over 15 months.
