Bee honey mouthwash could replace harsh chemicals for gum disease
NCT ID NCT07461155
First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study aims to develop a mouth rinse from stingless bee honey as a gentler alternative to the standard chemical rinse, chlorhexidine, which can cause tooth staining and mouth irritation. The research involves lab tests and a small pilot study with 60 adults who have mild gum disease (gingivitis). Participants will use the honey rinse alongside regular dental cleaning to see if it reduces plaque and bleeding without the side effects of current products.
