Study asks: is a stent needed after penile surgery in boys?

NCT ID NCT07243457

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at 110 boys aged 1–12 having surgery for hypospadias, a birth condition where the urine opening is on the underside of the penis. Half received a temporary stent (small tube) after surgery, and half did not. The goal was to see which approach leads to fewer leaks (fistulas) and better recovery. Results will help surgeons decide whether stents are helpful or unnecessary.
