Groundbreaking stem cell trial offers hope for incurable lung disease

NCT ID NCT04262167

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether stem cells grown from a patient's own lung tissue can safely slow down or improve progressive lung scarring. 24 adults with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis will receive either standard care or an infusion of their own lung stem cells at two different doses. Researchers will monitor safety and look for signs that the treatment might help preserve lung function over two years of follow-up.
