Stem cell shot tested to fix Radiation-Damaged saliva glands
NCT ID NCT07431645
Summary
This small, early-stage study tested whether a single injection of donor stem cells could be a safe and helpful treatment for severe, long-term dry mouth caused by radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. Ten patients who had finished cancer treatment received the cells and were monitored for four months to check for side effects and see if their saliva production or symptoms improved. The goal was to gather initial evidence for a potential regenerative therapy to repair radiation-damaged salivary glands.
