New radiation technique tested to prepare patients for Life-Saving stem cell transplants
NCT ID NCT03494569
Summary
This early-phase study is testing the safety and best dose of a targeted radiation treatment, given with two chemotherapy drugs, to prepare patients for a donor stem cell transplant. The goal is to better wipe out cancer cells in the bone marrow before receiving healthy donor cells, which can help rebuild the patient's blood and immune system. The study is for adults and some adolescents with high-risk forms of acute leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome who are not candidates for standard high-dose treatments.
