Could stem cells rebuild knees? new trial tests hope for arthritis sufferers
NCT ID NCT03383081
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether stem cells from umbilical cords can safely help people with knee osteoarthritis. About 60 adults with moderate knee damage will receive the cells and be monitored with MRI scans and pain scores. The goal is to see if the treatment can repair cartilage and ease pain, but it is not a cure—ongoing management may still be needed.
