First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at how staph bacteria on the skin affect immune cells and inflammation in people with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema). Researchers collected skin and blood samples from 41 adults to understand why some develop serious viral skin infections like eczema herpeticum. The goal was to learn more about the role of bacterial toxins in worsening eczema, not to test a new treatment.
