Quick sprints boost fitness in sedentary young adults
NCT ID NCT07596836
First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether a 6-week program of sprint interval training (short, intense bursts of exercise on a stationary bike) could improve cardiovascular fitness in healthy but sedentary young adults aged 20 to 25. Forty participants were split into two groups: one did supervised sprint training three times a week, while the other continued their usual inactive routine. The main goal was to measure changes in VO2max (a key indicator of heart and lung fitness), resting heart rate, and walking distance. The findings help show whether time-efficient exercise can boost fitness in people who don't move much.
